Celebrating Our Savior's Birth with a fun Christmas Party

What a great time we had at our Children's Christmas Banquet!

Thanks to all of our Sunday School Teachers, Helpers and especially the Parents, we had a blow-out of a party!  Bro Jeff and Sis Bridget did a wonderful job at organizing and preparing for the 100+ Sunday School children that attended...some even brought their parents with them. With pizza, puppets and games we all enjoyed the evening together and ended it up with a gift exchange.
***J-E-S-U-S IS THE REASON FOR THIS AND EVERY SEASON!!!***
We're so glad to have been able to celebrate the Birth of our Savior and we send out a very, very special THANK YOU  to our Pastor and his wife, Brother and Sister Wilbanks for all they do for the Sunday School here at Cornerstone Revival Center.  We love you!
Here's a photo gallery of the event.

JESUS!! Is Our S U P E R - H E R O !!!

WOW!! Our last Kid's Church was a blow-out! What an awesome God we serve and what a super cast we have at Cornerstone Revival Center who work with our children aged 3-12 years!

Below is a shot of some of them: Jade Bates, Rebekah Miller, Adam Roberts, Krysti Shallenburger, Angie Parker, Christy Best, Camille Hall, Brittani King, Kimi Wisener, Bridget Koehoorn, and Desmond Dumas. Several more not pictured
Our theme this month was "My Super-Hero!" In the mind of today's children, having a superhero that they can watch and follow along with is just normal. It's really a 'cool' thing to know all about Super. man, Batman, Star Wars etc...keeping up with their movies, wearing t-shirts that show off a superhero and of course, having those fiery action figures is what today's kids are into. So, we wanted to take that whole idea a step further and get down to the nitty-gritty of what a REAL SUPER-HERO is all about.

The Bible is full of so many H E R O E S! We have so many good examples to follow after. Like Moses, Joshua, Queen Esther, Paul, John the Baptist, Elijah and Elisha...just to name a few!

Questions we asked ourselves:
How does 'MY SUPER-HERO' line up with the Word of God?
Is the one I'm looking toward have qualities that reflect what's in THE WORD.
Here is the criteria we based our lessons, songs and games on at our last Kid's Church.

A REAL SUPER-HERO IS SOMEONE WHO:
  1. has impacted your life in a positive way
  2. we would want to be like

  3. stands for something positive

Here's a quick run-down of the day...

We usually have about 1 1/2-2 hours for our Sunday mo
rning Kids Church. We have tables set up with games, activities and paper w/crayons near the back of our room for all the 'EARLY BIRDS'. Then as they come in before the actual time to begin, the kids will have activities to keep them busy and that way it helps to curb their energy levels. Also, we have asked a few of the older kids (the ones who are almost 13 or just turned 13) to help with the younger ones who are playing at the tables. Then they are in charge of tidying up that area as well. This has really worked well for our large group.

Here we are beginning with a 'Blast off' idea that got the whole group seated and focused toward the front.

Next, we sang some fun songs to get us all moving! Of course, 'Jesus, You're My Super-hero', by Hillsongs Kids and 'Every Move I Make', by Jennifer Smith was a tremendous hit!
The girls lead the songs with motions.

Ethan, Jameson, Elena and Noah are part of the pre-k 3 class. Aren't the adorable!

We had 105 in Kid's Church this particular day. It was really amazing!

Alyssa, Whitney(our almost 13 helper) and Colton

Jacob and Salvador

Alex, Sis Tammy and part of the group.

Precious little ones...Alex brings about 30 children from a nearby neighborhood to Sunday School every Sunday! Here are a few. She started by visiting them and picking them up in her car and now she has a few drivers and they use our mini-bus every single Sunday! How AWESOME! We love you Alex!

After singing a few songs and working out the wiggles, we began by introducing our main theme: 'MY SUPER-HERO!' We based it on the scripture found in 1 Kings 18:1-39. This is the story of Elijah and King Ahab. Elijah believed so strongly in the God of his fathers, the one TRUE GOD, that he was willing to show King Ahab's people by having a 'SHOWDOWN' right there during Kid's Church.

Bro David Brazeel began by playing a song on his guitar about the fire coming down and lighting the sacrifice.

As we progressed Elijah(Bro Derrik Sherrill) came out and yelled to King Ahab(Bro Jeff Koehoorn) that he had a message to him FROM GOD. Well, that 'ole king was sure Elijah was causing so much trouble, but nevertheless, Elijah gave him the message! Boy, was it scarey! We just knew these two were about to fight.
As found in 1 Kings 18, Elijah and King Ahab had a 'Showdown' to see who's sacrifice would be accepted by the ONE TRUE GOD. King Ahab and his prophet(Bro Grant Wisener) danced and danced all day, until they were exhausted, but nothing ever happened to their poor little sacrifice. They called on their 'god' of Baal and tried so hard to get him to light their sacrifice. Nothing ever happened.

But when Elijah stepped up to call on his God...the flames went higher and higher and the sacrifice was consumed immediately! Elijah knew the POWER of the ALMIGHTY GOD! He put his trust and confidence in HIM!
After our skit we had games, an object lesson or two and more songs.

Bro Derrick Sherrill lead us into our altar time as we gathered into a huge circle to talk about what we learned. We prayed together as God touched each one of the children in a special way. It is important to give the children time to reflect on what they have just seen and discuss ways they can apply it.

Thanks to all our Children's Ministry cast for delivering a SUPER SERVICE while leading these children into the presence of God. You guys are all SUPER-HEROES!!!

Super Sunday Worship...Kid Style!

Kid's Church was so awesome! What a fantastic time we all had...even the adults. Puppets, singing, games, lessons and interactive stories along with worship made this a super day! Here are some photos of the morning!

To start off, Bro. Jeff Koehoorn, our Sunday School Director, welcomed everyone and brought in the first act. Our theme was Jesus Got UP!! So everything we did revolved around that.
Here is Bro Jeff and Sis Bridget Koehoorn (our SS Directors)

Sis Amy Alexander taught about "Giving" and showed us how Jesus gave for us.

Then it was time for Puppets! Wow! The puppet team did a great job under Sis Camille Hall's direction. They sang "He Got Up!", "He Arose", and "Shut de Door, Keep Out the Devil"

Sis Loretta had a whole line up of games and fun ready! What a super way to release so much energy!

More fun and games!

Easter Eggs are always fun to open and see what's inside...Sis Kimi Wisener used them during a lesson about Jesus rising from the grave!

Puppets are out in full force once again! Way to go guys!

Kids interact with puppets during songs and music time.

Worship is never a 'hum-drum' activitiy in our Real-Kid's Church. We take it to the next level every chance we get!

Bro Derrick and Sis Mary Sherrill have really got it going on! They showed us how to SHUT THE DOOR ON TEMPTATION AND THE DEVIL.
Thanks to all our Children's Ministry Staff! You are a blessing many times over to all our children and their families!
